The University of Delaware's student clubs and organizations foster a sense of community and promote cultural awareness. Involvement in these groups is crucial for developing critical thinking skills, gaining practical experience and building a network of peers with shared interests and passions.

The Department of Africana Studies invites University of Delaware students to join the Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Society of the National Council for Black Studies. The University of Delaware is the headquarters of the National Council for Black Studies.

Eligible undergraduate students must major or minor in Africana Studies or a similar course of study and maintain a 3.5 grade point average in their Africana Studies coursework and a 3.0 GPA overall. Membership is also open to graduate students. Members have opportunities to lead community service projects and conduct research, according to NCBS Executive Director and UD Professor Alicia Fontnette
