Biography

Dr. Serrano has taught at Montclair State University, University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Serrano is trained in Africana Studies and makes use of archaeology, history, and literature.​
 

Research Interests

Dr. Serrano's research interests involve conceptions of African antiquity as presented in literary, historical, and archaeological forms. His work comprises analyses regarding interpretations of the civilizational past as perceived by various writers.

 

Teaching Interests

​Dr. Serrano enjoys engaging students with perceptions of Africana Studies, i.e., continental, and diasporic African facets, and in general unveiling the multiple aspects of racialization, genderization, and class socialization.
