Latino Heritage Month activities include the following:

Thursday, Sept. 16 -- Papers: A Documentary about Undocumented Youth, Purnell Hall, Room 115, 6:30 p.m. This documentary will offer an inside look at what happens to children without legal status in the United States after they turn 18.

Tuesday, Sept. 21 -- Latino Heritage Month Opening Ceremony: A 20/20 view of Hispanic America Featuring John Quinones, Trabant University Center Multipurpose Rooms, 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). John Quinones, an anchor for the ABC News special Latin Beat as well as a co-anchor and correspondent for Primetime and 20/20, will give a talk about the United States' Hispanic population. This event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, Oct. 7 -- Comida Latina Latin Food Festival, all campus dining halls, dinner only. Come enjoy the authentic flavors of Latin cuisine at any of the University of Delaware dining halls. The food featured in this festival originates from various Latin countries such as Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Nicaragua, Cuba, Columbia, and Ecuador.

Saturday, Oct. 16 - Guallando, Perkins Student Center, Rodney Room, noon-6 p.m. Hosted by the Chi Upsilon Sigma Sorority, this event will feature a traditional Guallando experience with live performers and vendors selling art and clothing in the Guallando style.

Monday, Oct. 25 -- Social Justice in the Americas: Reflections from Latina Scholars, Perkins Student Center, Ewing Room, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The Hemispheric Dialogues Research Cluster presents this three-part symposium, which will include one discussion and two panels (several UD faculty members will serve as panelists). The symposium will allow its guests to participate in a discussion on social justice in the Americas. Times and topics are as follows:

• 10 -11:30 a.m.: U.S. Latina Scholars Rethinking Latin America/Latino Studies
• 1:30-3 p.m.: Latin American Scholars in the U.S. Academia
• 3:15-5 p.m.: Roundtable discussion with panelists and audience

Sunday, Nov. 7 - Alamar, an international film, Trabant University Center Theater, 7:30 p.m. Jorge and Roberta, who separated after the birth of their son, are completely opposite people. Jorge, a man of Mayan ancestry living in Mexico, prefers a simple life while Roberta, a native Italian, is partial to an urban lifestyle. Thus, when Roberta decides to move back to Italy with their son, Natan, Jorge desires to take Natan on a journey to explore their Mayan heritage.

Thursday, Nov. 11 -- Fiesta Latina, Trabant University Center Multipurpose Room, 8 p.m. A celebration of Latin dancing featuring a live Latin band and dance classes focusing on traditional Latin dances, including Sambas, Salsas, Cha Chas, Rumbas, Mambos, Meringues, Bachatas, Tangos, and Boleros. Light refreshments will be served.

Tuesday, Nov. 16 - SCPAB Coffeehouse Series features comedian Erik Rivera, Perkins Student Center, Scrounge, 8:30 p.m. Rivera, whose TV appearances include SiTV, Comedy Central and MTV Tr3s, is one of the most requested comedians across the nation. His performance at UD is free for UD students and staff.
