3:02 p.m., Feb. 4, 2011----The University of Delaware Department of Black American Studies has announced the schedule of speakers for its Brown Bag Lecture Series for the spring semester.

Speakers for the series, which has as its theme “The Art of Caring,” are as follows:

Monday, Feb. 14 -- Co-presenters Carol E. Henderson and Charlotte Marshall. Henderson, interim chair of the Department of Black American Studies and associate professor of English, will discuss "Principles of Ubuntu." Marshall, a doctoral student in the Department of Psychology at UD, will discuss “TRIOS and African-American Head Start Moms.”

Tuesday, March 22 -- "Artist Depiction of Air Force Relief Mission to Haiti," Robyn Phillips Pendleton, associate professor, Department of Art.

Monday, April 11 -- “Cultural and Nutritional Connections Women Nursing Their Children Here and Abroad,” Kelebogile (Lebo) Setiloane, associate professor in the Department of Behaviorial Health and Nutrition.

Monday, May 9 -- “Sisters on a Mission (SOAM): African-American Breast Cancer Support Group in Wilmington, Del.,” C. Darlene Shorter, president of SOAM and breast cancer survivor.

The Brown Bag Lecture Series is free and open to the public. It will be held from 12:15-1:10 p.m. in Room 206 of the Trabant University Center.

Each lecture is about 30 minutes and is followed by open discussion. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch and enjoy this vibrant and stimulating exchange of ideas.
