Simon's funny and poignant adaptation of Anton Chekhov's short stories moves from an ill-timed sneeze, to an over-eager dentist, to an exceedingly exuberant acting audition and includes a collection of characters that are both hilarious and endearing. As Broadway's master of comedy, Simon nimbly weaves eight infectious takes into one joyful and poignant entertainment.

REP actor Steve Tague plays the Narrator, the character based on Chekhov, and finds that the style of comedy is like a vaudeville routine. “It's old fashioned, like an Abbot and Costello routine. It's a back-and-forth style that's quick and fast, between broad, huge farce that's then coupled with some very sweet and touching scenes.”
