7:55 a.m., Oct. 9, 2009----Erica Godwin, a senior medical technology major at the University of Delaware, was the recipient of the Washington G-2 Reports/Dennis Weissman $5,000 Scholarship Award for Excellence in the Clinical Sciences sponsored by McKesson Revenue Management Solutions.

The award was presented on Sept. 24 at the Washington G-2 Reports 27th annual Lab Institute Conference in Arlington, Va. The scholarship is given annually to students who exemplify excellence in clinical laboratory science and to help develop future leaders in the medical technology field.

Godwin is pursuing an honors degree in medical technology, has a minor in biological sciences, and is a student in UD's Honors Program. She has been on the Dean's List each of the past six semesters, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Academic Honor Society, was selected one of 96 Women of Promise in 2008, and received the American Society of Clinical Pathology's National Student Honor Award in 2009.

For her academic excellence and her potential to contribute to the medical technology profession, Godwin was recognized with the Peter G. Anderson Award on Honors Day 2009. She is a member of the UD Marching Band, and she also gives her time and support to many community services.
