Transfer Credit Information for Newly Admitted Students
Preliminary Transfer Credit Evaluations are available online through
http://www.udel.edu/beabluehen for newly admitted freshmen and transfer students who submitted an official post-secondary transcript with their UD admissions application. Students admitted before the completion of their final semester at another institution must send an official transcript listing final grades for that semester. Please send transcripts to
University Transfer Center, 30 Lovett Ave., Newark, DE, 19716, ATTN: Denise Lemon.
Courses may transfer to the University as either a specific UD course, (for example, MATH 115 Precalculus), or as departmental elective credit (for example, MATH 166, 266, 366, or 466). The final decision regarding equivalent coursework and the number of credit hours applicable to your degree program rests with the
assistant dean of your college. After receiving advisement at Delaworld 101 (new student orientation), you may request to have elective credit re-evaluated by departmental faculty for equivalency to a specific UD course or courses by doing the following:
- Print the Re-evaluation of Transfer Credit form.
- Obtain course descriptions for courses that do not have direct UD equivalents (i.e.,UD course numbers 166, 266, 366, and 466). Additional information (such as a course syllabus) may also be needed. The departmental faculty contact will let you know if additional material is necessary.
- Email (preferred) or phone the faculty contact in the appropriate University department(s) to have the transfer work reviewed. A course description from the original institution is required. Please note that most faculty members are not available during the summer months and should not be contacted until AFTER the student has attended Delaworld 101 and received advisement. Typically students complete the re-evaluation process during their first semester at the University.
- Ask the faculty member to EITHER email the University Transfer Center (transfercredit@udel.edu) with the following information:
- Student's name and UDID
- Name of previous institution
- Previous course ID (i.e., PSY101), course title and number of credits
- Approved UD course equivalent (i.e., PSYC 100), course title and number of credits
- Name and contact information of faculty member approving the course
OR
Complete the Re-evaluation of Transfer Credit form and return it to the address on the form.
- Check your student record periodically for changes.
- Meet with your academic advisor to determine how the changes apply to your degree progress, as well as your classification and expected graduation term.
Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge A-Levels, Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), and Tech Prep test credit are processed through the University Transfer Center. Go to the
Admissions' website for a listing of AP and IB test equivalencies. Please note that official AP score reports from the May test administration and official IB exam reports are not be sent to the University until late July.
