Participants went for the gold, set a new personal best, or just enjoyed a leisurely tour of campus with fellow Blue Hens during the 7th annual Alumni Weekend Blue Hen 5K Walk/Run & Kids Fun Run. A special prize was be given to the participants who showed the most UD spirit and the 5K also featured the competition for the President’s Cup, which was awarded to the UD group that had the most participants and fastest runners.
“Dela-bration” was the party of the year with nearly 5,000 Blue Hens enjoying an evening of friends, live music and dancing in the heart of campus and it was a big change from last year: It’s not just the “Mug Night” name that’s gone - the separate tents were history as well. Alumni Weekend’s signature event was one, giant, open air event on the North Green so all alumni could mingle together throughout the evening!
David G. DeWalt, a University of Delaware alumnus who now leads the cybersecurity firm FireEye Inc., delivered the University’s 166th Commencement address to the Class of 2015 and 23,000 guests. DeWalt urged newest Blue Hens to remember their graduation day, to live, love and remember where they came from – and also to remember who the important people in their lives are, the people who are there for them when it counts.
