Boyle, a UD alumna, was named alongside communications and marketing professionals from Turner Broadcasting, Kaiser Permanente, Cox Enterprises, the National Basketball Association, Office Depot and Southwest Airlines, among others.

She will be honored during a special event Nov. 30 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

“This is a very special honor for Andrea, for the University of Delaware, and for the Office of Communications and Marketing,” said David Brond, vice president for communications and marketing. “This honor is recognition of a great deal of hard work on a wide range of projects.”

Brond said Boyle was nominated for, among other projects:

Redesign of the Experts at the University of Delaware website, which provides a showcase for faculty and an easy to use system for journalists seeking expert commentary.

Initiation of a UD presence on Facebook, which now has a community of 15,000 followers.

Coordinating media relations surrounding UD's purchase of the former Chrysler assembly plant, now the future science and technology campus, with national coverage including American Public Media's Marketplace and the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Securing a CNN extended interview with Wolf Blitzer for alumni David Plouffe and Steve Schmidt, both leading political consultants.

Production of videos featuring scholar-athletes and designed to support Blue Hens athletics fund raising efforts.

Placement of University of Delaware stories in national media, including special efforts surrounding UD research work concerning the calving of a massive chunk of ice from Greenland's Petermann Glacier.

A former broadcast journalist, Boyle joined the Office of Communications and Marketing in 2008. She earned her bachelor's degree in communication and history at UD and her master's degree in journalism at Northwestern University.
