As winner, Ingari, an Honors Program student who is majoring in communication and foreign languages and literatures with a minor in interactive media, received a $250 cash card.

Her video will be posted on the UD Emergency Preparedness website and will be shown prior to movies at the Trabant University Center Theatre.

“Michele Ingari's winning video was innovative, thoughtful and on point,” said Marcia Nickle, UD emergency manager. “Disaster events have happened on college campuses and we need to be prepared for any incident. Disaster preparedness doesn't have to be hard; just doing some little things like having a 'go bag' in case of an evacuation or making sure you have working flashlights in your residence hall. Even just thinking and talking about disaster preparedness with your friends and family can make a difference.”

Nickle said this was the first year for the emergency preparedness video contest, and the office hopes to make it an annual event. “It is our goal to spur an ongoing discussion amongst the students, faculty and staff about preparedness. It is really everyone's job to prepare the UD community,” she said.
