9:33 a.m., Dec. 17, 2010----Janette Humphrey, 50, died Dec. 8.
She joined the University of Delaware in 1986 and was a staff assistant in the Office of Housing Assignment Services. A dedicated, loyal and hard working person, she became very close with many of her colleagues at UD. She was a member of the Association of College and University Housing Officers International, and she took great pride in arranging the Housing Fair on the campus.
Ms. Humphrey grew up in New York and attended Catholic elementary and high schools. She graduated from St. Gabriel High School in New Rochelle, N.Y., and attended Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.
She is survived by her son, Jermaine Denzel Humphrey; grandson, Braylen M. Guernsey; parents, Rudene and Bonniell Harrison; sisters Bonnie Harrison, Alisha Harrison, Teresa and Valarie Shaw; brothers Stanley Harrison and Bruce Shaw; nieces Michelle Rennalls and Tyler Anderson; nephew Glenn Anderson; and many cousins and friends.
The funeral is being held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1325 Barksdale Rd., Newark.
