John Byrne, director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, was quoted in a Sept. 10 Korea Herald article, saying there must be a cooperative international effort to deal with the problem of green inequity, in which some nations are developing leading-edge technologies to reduce carbon emissions while others continue to use outdated technologies.

Thomas Sims, deputy dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Katy O'Connell, communications manager in the college, Dan Severson, laboratory coordinator, and students Kate Kingsborough and Sara Busker were featured in a Sept. 10 News Journal article on the new UDairy creamery. "We wanted students to make ice cream, but we wanted it to be part of their classes, not an after-school job. At every one of our events, we want people to do more than just have an ice cream cone. We want them to think about why we're there, what our message is," Sims told the newspaper.

Charles Bartlett, associate professor of entomology and wildlife ecology, was quoted in a Sept. 10 News Journal article about bedbugs. "They are in the news a lot lately because they are making a comeback. There is a lot of mythology about them, because they had been very well controlled for a long time," Bartlett told the newspaper.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Sept. 9 article in The New York Times concerning the firing of the Bank of America general counsel following a shareholder vote to approve a merger with Merrill Lynch. “I'd like to know why he was dismissed,” Elson said. “If he was terminated because of disagreements on disclosure on Merrill, that's relevant. It goes right back to the effectiveness of management. You can always disregard a general counsel's advice, but the question is, Why did you?” Elson also was quoted in a Sept. 8 Bloomberg news service article about judges and punishment being meted out on Wall Street in the wake of the recession, and in a Sept. 11 News Journal article on recommendations concerning Delaware corporate law.
