8:39 a.m., Oct. 27, 2009----The University of Delaware community and alumni of the College of Education and Public Policy are invited to attend a special lecture by Dan Rich, University Professor of Public Policy and former provost of UD, entitled “The Changing Public Role of Universities in the Age of Globalization” on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Gore Recital Hall in the Roselle Center for the Arts.
According to Rich, the global environment of higher education is in the midst of a dramatic transformation that has altered the requirements for institutional success and promoted a re-conception of the public role of U.S. universities.
He will discuss how the restructuring of the underlying political economy of higher education is redefining the public responsibilities of universities, with a greater focus on stimulating success in the global competition for economic development.
A reception will follow the presentation in the lobby of the Roselle Center for the Arts. Please respond with acceptances only to the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy at [suapp@udel.edu] or (302) 831-1687.
