9:20 a.m., May 12, 2010----The University of Delaware Board of Trustees approved 52 faculty promotions at its spring meeting May 11. The appointments are effective with the 2010-11 academic year.

Eighteen members of the faculty were promoted to the rank of full professor with tenure: Tammy Anderson, sociology and criminal justice; John Bernard and Paul Eggermont, both food and resource economics; Fioralba Cakoni and Tobin Driscoll, both mathematical sciences; Chandra Kambhamettu, computer and information sciences; Anette Karlsson, mechanical engineering; David Legates and Yda Schreuder, both geography; Alexander Lehrman, foreign languages and literatures; Anne Morris, School of Education; Russell Murray, music; Norbert Mulders, physics and astronomy; Mark Parcells, animal and food sciences; Matthew Robinson, health, nutrition and exercise sciences; David Shearer, history; Daniel Sullivan, business administration; and Eric Wommack, plant and soil sciences.

Promoted to the rank of full professor without tenure was Michael Rosenberg, anthropology.

Promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure were 26 faculty members: Svilen Bobev, chemistry and biochemistry; Fidelma Boyd, biological sciences; Haiqiang Chen and Kalmia Kniel, both animal and food sciences; David Coker, Rosalie Dow and Amanda Jansen, all School of Education; Cristina Guardiola-Griffiths and Meredith Ray, both foreign languages and literatures; Philippe Guyenne and Anja Sturm, both mathematical sciences; Marianne Gythfeldt, music; Myae Han, human development and family studies; Stefanie Hansen, theatre; Jill Higginson, mechanical engineering; Tian-Jian Hsu and Jack Puleo, both civil and environmental engineering; Anna Klintsova, psychology; David Meyer, art; Anthony Middlebrooks, School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy; Michael Shay, physics and astronomy; David Suisman, history; Kenneth van Golen, biological sciences; Tricia Wachtendorf, sociology and criminal justice; Matthew Weinart, political science and international relations; and Jingyi Yu, computer and information sciences.

Five faculty members were promoted to the rank of associate professor, without tenure: James Keegan, English; Susan McKenna, foreign languages and literatures; Jill Neitzel, anthropology; Anthony Seraphin, mathematical sciences; and Patricia Walsh, biological sciences.

Arild Hestvik, associate professor of linguistics and cognitive sciences, and Karl V. Steiner, senior associate provost for research development, were granted tenure.
