Based in the Washington, D.C., area, JETS presents students with opportunities to understand how engineers make a difference in the world, see how their own talents and skills align with engineering majors and occupations, and participate in real-world competitions and activities. JETS programs touch more than 40,000 students and 10,000 educators from 6,000 high schools across the country every year.

“Having been a board member of JETS since 2006, I am excited to lead the organization as vice president,” Vaughan says. “I believe the JETS mission is critical to fostering the future engineering workforce of this country. JETS encourages students to pursue engineering by showing them how the profession impacts everyday life and how engineers help solve social and global problems.”

AT UD, Vaughan serves as the campus co-principal investigator of the National Science Foundation-funded Greater Philadelphia Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program, which focuses on the success of students traditionally underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. He also serves on the boards of other national, regional, and local organizations.

Vaughan received bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate at UD.
