9:14 a.m., May 14, 2009----The University of Delaware will host a meeting of 75 national and international scientists on the topic of viral ecology from Thursday, May 14, through Saturday, May 16.

The meeting is sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Delaware ESPCoR and the University of Delaware's Center for Critical Zone Research.

Opening events will be held at 6:50 p.m., Thursday, in Room 119 of Clayton Hall, with a welcome by Steve Wilhelm, SCOR working group co-chair, and meeting organizer K. Eric Wommack, UD associate professor of plant and soil sciences, biological sciences and marine and earth studies who is affiliated with the Delaware Biotechnology Institute.

The meeting will continue Friday in Room 106 of Pencader Hall, with presentations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and an evening poster session.

On Saturday, the meeting will be held in Room 102 of the Delaware Biotechnology Institute, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a trip to Longwood from 11:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and a closing banquet at 6:30 p.m.
