Ralph Begleiter, Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence, was quoted in a May 22 News Journal story about a documentary on the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark prepared by students in his broadcast news documentary class. The documentary, “Left Behind: Chrysler's Newark Assembly Plant, Past, Present and Future,” was screened Thursday on campus.

Marianne Carter, director of the Delaware Center for Health Promotion at UD, was quoted in May 20 stories in the News Journal and on WILM-AM about Be Healthy Delaware Day, which promotes the benefits of healthy lifestyle habits. The day was marked May 21 and more than 5,000 state residents participated.

Judith Provencal, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, was quoted in a May 19 Discovery News story on the Whole Earth Telescope observations.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a May 19 Dow Jones Newswires story about RiskMetrics and candidates it is backing for the Target board. Elson also was quoted in a May 19 Flint (Mich.) Journal story about Citizens Republic Bancorp shareholders.

Fred DeMicco, ARAMARK Professor of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, and William Sullivan, managing director of the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel on campus, were quoted in a May 19 Hotel Interactive story about the effects of food and beverage recalls on the hospitality industry.

Joel Best, professor of sociology, was cited in a May 18 Irish Times story for his book Damned Lies and Statistics. The story concerned the difficulty in determining the number of nurses in that nation.

Summer Beretsky, a 2008 graduate, wrote an article on cognitive distortion on May 18 on Psych Central.

Sue Barton, assistant professor of plant and soil sciences and Cooperative Extension specialist, was featured in the May 17 Native Delaware column in the News Journal, which focused on May's flowering shrubs and trees.

Jon Manon, director of the Mathematics and Science Education Resource Center, was featured in a May 15 News Journal story about the School-Based Teacher Leaders Conference held at UD.
