11:39 a.m., May 1, 2009----A University of Delaware student was assaulted shortly before 9 p.m., Thursday, April 30, near the main entrance to Harter Hall.
According to University Police, the victim had secured his bicycle and was about to enter the building when he was approached by two men who first asked to use his cell phone and who then asked for 50 cents to make a telephone call. When the victim declined, one of the men struck him in the face.
The victim then ran for safety to a nearby restaurant on Main Street. He was transported to the emergency room at Christiana Hospital for treatment.
University police described one suspect as being 5-feet 10-inches tall and of average build. He was wearing a white shirt and had short black hair. There was no description on the second suspect.
