Newark Police investigate robbery of UD student

12:08 p.m., March 2, 2009----Newark Police are investigating the strong arm robbery of a University of Delaware student that occurred around 1 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 on East Cleveland Avenue in Newark.

The student was on the sidewalk when he was approached by a man who asked to use his cell phone. The student told the suspect he could use it after he placed a call. While the student was attempting his call, the suspect grabbed the Blackberry Pearl phone, punched the student in the face and ran off. The student was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a white male 18 to 21 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 160 to 180 pounds, with a thin build and a short, military-style haircut. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a round red graphic in the middle of the chest. The suspect was believed to be in the company of another white male, 18 to 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build, small shaved head and big ears.
