Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Feb. 19 BusinessWeek story about a proposed settlement of claims by shareholders of Sovereign Bancorp that includes layoff protection for employees. “That's very unusual. They can't do that if the major cost is invisible to them,” Begleiter said.

Begleiter also was quoted in a Feb. 17 Washington Post story and a Feb. 14 New York Times story and cited in a Feb. 16 Forbes opinion piece on the topic.
