Community Resource Unit
The Community Outreach Unit (CRU) is tasked with developing and maintaining relationships with the University community and surrounding partners. The unit presents the University community with programs designed to build trust and increase safety such as Active Shooter presentations, Alcohol Awareness Presentations, and general safety measures. The University of Delaware Police Department’s Facility Dog Program is designed to support officer wellness, strengthen community relationships, and promote a safe, welcoming campus environment through meaningful engagement. This K9 serves as a bridge between law enforcement and the community by providing comfort, reducing stress, and helping foster positive interactions with the community.

Communications Center
The University Of Delaware Police Department operates one of nine Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in the State of Delaware. All 911 calls that are placed from the campus phone system are answered by the University of Delaware Police Communications Center (UCOMM). Whenever an emergency call is received in the Communications Center, the location is presented to the dispatcher answering the call and on the corresponding map. UCOMM handles over 19,000 calls for service each year that were documented within the dispatch system, approximately 15,000 of which required the assignment of a police or security officer to the incident. The PSAP is also responsible for monitoring life safety alarms, security alarms, access control systems and CCTV that require response and dispatch to various incidents that impact the safety and security of the university community.
Security Services / Satellite Campus Operations (Wilmington/Lewes)
The Security Services division provides many services, including event security, building checks, and staffing the Hugh Morris library check-in desk. The Department also maintains a security presence on the Wilmington Campus and the Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes, with the Auxiliary Operations Unit Commander overseeing the uniform security services division for those areas. The department currently employs full-time and part-time Security Officers at the Lewes Campus and the Wilmington Campus. Security Services are also contracted by external agencies operating on UD's STAR Campus. Chemours and Bloom Energy each have dedicated Security Officers who operate in these locations as well as at the Newark Train Station.
