Job Title: Assistant City Manager, City of Dubuque
Cori Burbach received her Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 2007 from the University of Delaware. During her time at UD, she completed a research assistantship at the Institute for Public Administration (IPA), working for the Borough of Media, Pennsylvania, and with various local governments across the state of Delaware. This experience broadened her perspective on working in municipalities and her interactions with colleagues in other public and nonprofit organizations, enabling her to better understand the value of public-private partnerships in achieving community goals. Cori went on to complete an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Local Government Management Fellowship with the cities of Dubuque, Iowa, and Lancaster, Wisconsin. From there, she advanced her career at the City of Dubuque, culminating in her appointment as Assistant City Manager in 2017. In this role, Cori assists the city manager in directing the day-to-day operations of the City government and plays a key role in shaping the organizational culture. She also serves on the Iowa City/County Management Association board and the ICMA board. Cori continues to support municipal manager pipeline development by serving on the University of Northern Iowa's Master's in Public Policy Advisory Board, providing coaching and mentoring to young professionals.
