A complete application includes a complete online application and one online recommendation letter. Occasionally a program may require additional documents, so please read the program’s website carefully. The application requires biographical and personal information, all of which will be kept confidential. Acceptance is not official until a comprehensive judicial review has been completed, which occurs after the preliminary acceptance.

Program fees are subject to change until the group's departure date. Final program fees may be increased due to airline tax increases, fuel surcharges, changes to exchange rates, or changes in the group size.

Deadlines: All materials listed below must be received by these deadlines.
Before starting the application form, gather this information
  • Your current GPA (login to UDSIS here)
  • Your passport if you have one
  • Name and number of your health insurance policy
  • Names of medications you're taking
If you are not a current UD student
  • You must first complete the Quick Bio Form to create a record in the UD system. Remember your username and password/PIN, which you will use to login to the study abroad application.
  • You must have a copy of your official transcript sent to:

Recommendation letter
  • After completing the on-line application, ask your recommender to complete our on-line recommendation form.
  • One recommendation required for all applicants (including those applying for a scholarship)
    • Must come from a professor who is familiar with you and your work
    • For foreign language programs, recommendation can come from your language professor or FLLT graduate teaching assistant.
  • On the application, you will be asked, "Do you waive the right to have access to the information provided in your letter of recommendation?" Be sure to tell your recommender about your right to see their letter.
  • Give your recommender enough time to complete the form before the deadline.
  • Remember that it's your responsibility to make sure your recommendation is received by the deadline.
Initial Payment
  • When you are accepted to a program, the entire Program Fee and Tuition/Fees will be posted to your UD student account. An initial payment of $2,000 will be due within 10 days of acceptance.

Scholarships
  • UD funding toward UD study abroad program fees (not tuition) is available to full-time, matriculated, University of Delaware undergraduates studying on University of Delaware study abroad programs (not exchange programs) through Need-based, Merit-based, and Freshman Year scholarships. See the Scholarships page for complete details.
  • All applicants who have been conditionally accepted into a study abroad program will be considered for scholarships. No additional application or materials are necessary, apart from the required faculty recommendation.
  • Deadlines for program applications may be extended, but deadlines for scholarship applications will NOT be extended.
Interview
  • Wait to be contacted by your faculty director to schedule an interview.
  • Some faculty conduct interviews on a rolling basis, others wait until after the application deadline, while a few choose not to interview their applicants - trust that you will be contacted by the faculty director at the appropriate time.
  • Come to the interview prepared to discuss why you'd like to participate and what you are expecting from the program.

  • Once the form is submitted, it's final -you can not make changes - so fill it out carefully!
  • Remember, Non-UD students must first complete this Quick Biographic form to gain access to UD's computer system. You will need an official username and password/PIN to login to the application below.
