UD Parking Services kicks off annual food drive, sets donation locations

University of Delaware Parking Services, working in conjunction with the Morris Library, the University Student Centers and Dining Services, will kick off its annual food drive for the Food Bank of Delaware on Monday, Nov. 14.

Collections will continue through Friday, Dec. 16.

Members of the University community can donate non-perishable food donations items at multiple locations across campus. Donation barrels will be available at the:

• Morris Library lobby;

• Perkins Student Center garage lobby;

• Trabant University Center garage lobby;

• Roselle Center for the Arts lobby; and

• Perkins Student Center Parking office.

Donations will also be accepted on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the UDrive Vehicle Check-Up at the Wyoming Maintenance Complex.

To encourage donations, Parking Services staff will host a Cookies for Cans table from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:

• Nov. 29 and 30, Morris Library lobby, Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center.

•  Dec. 6 and 7, Morris Library lobby, Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center.

•  Dec. 13, Trabant University Center and Perkins Student Center.

Donors who drop off non-perishable food items at one of these tables will receive a cookie as Parking Services’ way of thanking them for supporting the Food Bank of Delaware.

For those who want to make an impactful donation, the Food Bank of Delaware recommended donation list can be seen at this website.

Starting Nov. 28, Parking Services will kick off the third annual Cans for Cites program, in which each non-perishable food item counts as a $5 payment toward a parking citation less than 30 days old. The Cans for Cites program will run through Dec. 16.
