TIME SLOT
FOR ROOM SELF-SELECTION
(OR WHY EARLY BIRD MATTERS)

If you are applying for UD Housing for 2015-2016, the earliest you can go in to My Housing to self-select a housing space for 2015-2016 is during your self-selection "time slot."

How early your time slot is depends first on your class year (regardless of credit count).

Within your class year, you can increase your chances of getting the space you want by increasing your total number of Priority Points. HINT: See Early Bird Application below.

Students with the same class year and same number of Priority Points are then sorted by cumulative credit hours.

Finally, each student will be assigned a random lottery number.

Students who have applied for housing for 2015-2016 will receive an email in the Spring with a time slot.

EARLY BIRD APPLICATION

September 27 - October 31, 2014

The Early Bird Guaranteed Housing Application Period for 2015-2016 will begin on September 27, 2014 and close on October 31, 2014.

Early Birds will be credited 5 Priority Points.

To complete the Early Bird application, you will log in to My Housing, sign the Student Housing Contract and pay your $200 prepayment (which will be credited toward next Fall semester's housing costs).

Look for further information about completing the next steps of your Housing Application during the Returning Student Open Enrollment Period, February 1-28, 2015.

PRIORITY POINTS

Priority Points play a strong role in how early a student will be able to log in to the My Housing Portal during Room Selection, and thus how likely they will be to get the room they want.

Students will be credited 5 Priority Points for an Early Bird application, which is the surest way of getting Priority Points.

There will be limited additional opportunities for students to obtain Priority Points.

Students in extended housing after September 15, 2014 are credited one Priority Point.

CLASS YEAR

Students will remain within their class year, no matter how many Priority Points or credit hours they have accumulated.

< Click on the poster for a visual explanation of Priority Points.

HOUSING CONTRACT

Students should review the Student Housing Contract for 2015-2016. Remember, the Student Housing Contract is a financially binding contract, similar to signing an off-campus lease.
