New Students

New Students: Welcome

Welcome New International Students and Scholars!!!

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Delaware. I am sure you have many questions about the United States and particularly about the University of Delaware and your anticipated program of study. Many of these will be best answered when you arrive on campus; however, basic information regarding travel, housing, orientation, and so forth will be found on this website. PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY!

If you have not already received your visa authorization form (I-20 or DS-2019), contact us immediately. Present this form to the U.S. Consulate nearest you and certification of financial support for study, Sevis fee payment receipt, and all visa applicants must pass the physical examination required by the consulate. You must retain the visa authorization form and present it at your port of entry to the United States. You will be given a J-94 form which you will complete on the airplane and it will be stamped by USCIS upon arrival in the U.S. This form is very important. We will require a copy, along with a copy of your passport, visa and stamped I-20 when you check in. Please be aware that if you are to receive a stipend from the University of Delaware, you can only be paid if you have F-1 or J-1 status.

Please note that our required orientation program for new international students and scholars will be held on February 4, 2010 (for the Spring semester) in ** Trabant Student Center, Multipurpose Room**, 8:30am to 12:00pm. I will plan to see you at that time, if not before! However, if you have further questions, or if we may be of any help before then, please do not hesitate to let us know. Please remember that you are required to report to this office with your passport immediately upon arrival in Newark.

We look forward to seeing you at the beginning of the semester.

Sincerely yours,
Susan C. Lee
