Appreciation week features fun, games (and even some learning)

Get ready for a week’s worth of activities, fun and friendship as the University of Delaware celebrates Graduate Student Appreciation Week from April 1-5.

Throughout the week, teams of graduate students will embark on a campuswide Seek-and-Find/Photo Scavenger Hunt for 10 hidden “treasures.” There is also an opportunity for online students to participate from wherever they are.

On Monday, there will be an Equity Coffee Hour featuring a free light breakfast and conversation with Michael Vaughan, vice provost for equity, and others (9-10 a.m. in the Graduate Student Lounge, Room 114, Perkins Student Center).

Tuesday, head to the lounge in Perkins and enjoy free UDairy ice cream with Lou Rossi, dean of the Graduate College (4-5 p.m.). Afterward, counter the calories with a yoga session in the same space (5:15-6:15 p.m.).

Wednesday, a happy hour gets underway at Grain Exchange on the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus, where attendees can mingle with fellow graduate students (3-5 p.m.).

On Thursday, the Student and Caretaker Conversation provides a space where students can discuss the demands of being a caretaker/provider for family members (12:30-2 p.m., Perkins Student Center, Room 261). Please bring lunch; desserts and beverages provided.

Celebrations conclude with two Friday events: First, UD is launching a free research program, Communications Training for UD Researchers, with a half-day event (8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Audion, STAR Campus; register by March 27). From noon-3 p.m., Graduate Student Field Day will entail some friendly competition with fellow students.
