Newark Police investigate armed robbery on South Main Street

Newark Police responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Sunoco station at 287 South Main St. at approximately 11:45 p.m., Monday, May 14.

It was reported that an unknown man entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of money was turned over from the register. The suspect fled the store on foot heading south through the parking lot.

The suspect is described as a white man dressed in all black clothing, with his face partially covered in black material. There is no video surveillance available at this time.

Anonymous tips can be texted  to 302NPD with the message to TIP411. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or at www.tipsubmit.com, where a reward may be available.
