Newark Police investigate shot fired

Incident reported on South College Avenue near I-95
Newark Police are investigating a report of a shot fired around 8:47 am., Saturday, March 17, near the Red Roof Inn, 1119 South College Ave. in Newark.
According to Newark Police, the incident did not involve University of Delaware students, and there is not an ongoing threat to anyone in the area.
Police report that two individuals were in a vehicle leaving the hotel, when a Honda Pilot pulled in behind them. A male suspect got out of the Honda and confronted the male victim, striking him with a handgun. The male victim fled the area on foot, being chased by the armed suspect. During this time, a round was fired from the handgun, however, no one was struck. The suspect fled the area in the Honda with a second suspect in the vehicle.
This investigation is in its initial stages and is being investigated as possibly domestic related.
