UD team joins the Collegiate Leadership Competition

University will host the second annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Collegiate Leadership Competition

The University of Delaware and the Blue Hen Leadership Program have joined the ranks of 55 U.S. colleges and universities by participating in the second annual Collegiate Leadership Competition: a day-long event consisting of teams sent from different schools in their affiliated regions competing in various leadership-dependent tasks in front of employers, researchers, and other professionals.

This is a way for students to learn and demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to be applied in their future professional pursuits.

UD will host the Mid-Atlantic regional competition which includes teams from Widener University, Cabrini University, the University of Alaska, Rider University, and Penn State Abington.

The event, which is hosted by the Blue Hen Leadership Program and co-sponsored by Horn Entrepreneurship, will take place on Saturday,  April 14 in Bacchus Theatre from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A networking reception with the teams and professionals will be held Friday, April 13.

Team University of Delaware is led by coaches Ronald Phillips, a pre-medical senior student, and Susan Luchey, the associate director of Student Centers for Student Leadership Development.

The UD 2018 Collegiate Leadership Competition team consists of:

Freshman: Nishant Chintala, Computer Science and Finance; Josh Grun, Political Science

Sophomores: Elon Kline, Interpersonal Effectiveness in Leadership; Gillian Williams, Public Policy

Juniors: Harrison Landfield, Chemical Engineering; Jaime Renman, Public Policy

Senior: Jayme Soyak, Geography
