ADVANCE Women’s Leadership @ UD accepting applications

Program helps participants develop leadership vision, skills and networks

The University of Delaware’s ADVANCE Women’s Leadership @ UD program is now accepting applications for the inaugural spring 2018 cohort. Sponsored by UD ADVANCE, in collaboration with UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, the program addresses the obstacles to women faculty assuming academic leadership roles and enables participants to develop their leadership vision, skills and networks necessary to address the challenges of preparing for leadership positions.

Participants will explore a broad range of leadership opportunities, including promotion to full professor, administrative roles within UD, executive positions in professional associations, and leadership in new movements, initiatives, or interdisciplinary fields.

While the workshop is geared toward women associate professors, advanced assistant professors or recently promoted professors are also invited to apply. Limited space is available. All applications will be reviewed by UD ADVANCE and acceptance into the program is on a rolling basis until the cohort is filled. The program application and additional details can be found at http://sites.udel.edu/advance/initiatives/leadership_program/.

The program schedule is divided into two parts:

  • Part I - Afternoon of Friday, March 16 and full day Saturday, March 17, 2018

  • Part II - Saturday, April 14, 2018

ADVANCE Women’s Leadership @ UD will be led by Amanda Bullough and Wendy Smith, the faculty leaders of the Lerner College’s Women’s Leadership initiative. The program supports UD ADVANCE’s goal of increasing the number of UD women faculty in leadership positions and aligns with other ADVANCE efforts to empower women faculty on campus.

Those with questions about the program should contact Shawna Vican, ADVANCE program director, at svican@udel.edu or 302-831-3283.
