Three candidates to present in public forums, Sept. 11, 14 and 18

Three finalists for the position of vice president for information technologies (VP-IT) at the University of Delaware will visit campus and speak in public forums starting Monday, Sept. 11, according to Charlie Riordan, vice president for research, scholarship and innovation, and chair of the search committee.

Dates for the presentations are September 11, 14 and 18, with the forums scheduled for 4:30–5:30 p.m. in the Trabant University Center Theater each day. Details on the forums and background information on each of the candidates are available at a website accessible to UD faculty and staff using their UDelNet ID and password.

The website also will include recordings of each public forum for those who are not able to attend in person, and an online feedback form for gathering comments. The feedback form will close at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The search committee, composed of faculty and staff with broad academic and administrative expertise, has been working with the firm of Opus Partners since spring to identify excellent candidates for the position.

“The vice president for information technologies will play a key role in leading the innovation, development and implementation of information technology solutions, services and policy at the University,” Riordan said. “Our committee has identified three exemplary candidates for this critical leadership position, and I encourage the campus community to attend the forums to learn more about each candidate and provide feedback to us.”

Members of the search committee include Ann Ardis, senior vice provost for graduate and professional education; Glenn Carter, vice president for communications and marketing; Kirk Die, director of internal auditing; Doug Doren, deputy dean, College of Arts and Sciences; Joe Kempista, director of client support services, Information Technologies; Chris Lucier, vice president for enrollment management; Lynn Okagaki, deputy provost for academic affairs; Greg Oler, vice president for finance and deputy treasurer; Greg Perrine, director of systems and reporting, University Development; Kimberly Reinagel-Nietubicz, strategic policy analyst, Office of the Executive Vice President; José Riera, dean of students; and Cathy Wu, Unidel Edward G. Jefferson Chair in Engineering and Computer Science.

Jason Cash, formerly deputy chief information officer in Information Technologies – Network and Systems Services, has served as interim vice president for information technologies since Jan. 1, 2016. He was appointed when Carl Jacobson retired from the post after six years in the role, and a 31-year career at UD.
