Free screenings for several potential health concerns

STAR Health invites UD employees, retirees and spouses to sample a full slate of clinical healthcare services on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the STAR Health Sciences Complex. Core services include primary care, exercise counseling, nutrition counseling, physical therapy, health coaching and speech-language-hearing (with additional focus areas like concussion and Parkinson’s disease).

Clinicians from each area will be available in the atrium to provide detailed information and field questions. The event will also feature light refreshments and free screenings, including biometric, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and body mass index. Employee Health and Wellbeing will showcase its many offerings and programs. Register in advance.

STAR Health clinicians and Employee Health and Wellbeing director Beth Finkle are spearheading the event.

“We want employees to get exposed to all of the clinical services offered at STAR Health, and connect them to the friendly faces providing these services,” said Finkle. “Our hope is that people will use this information to change their behavior to lower their disease risk and feel confident on where to turn for resources.”

“We want to make the referral process as easy as possible for patients and clients,” added registered clinical exercise physiologist Brittany Overstreet. “We want this place to truly be ‘healthcare under one roof.’”

Free parking will be available on the north side of the building. For questions, email wellbeing@udel.edu.
