Dec. 9: Holiday Pops concert

Better watch out! Master Players Holiday Pops is coming to town

The Master Players Concert Series presents “Holiday Pops: Frank Sinatra’s Coming to Town” at 3 p.m.. Saturday, Dec. 9, in Mitchell Hall on the campus of theUniversity of Delaware in Newark.

This is a festive family concert featuring holiday classics with a twist by a unique mix of performers:

  • Las Vegas singer Steve Lippia will croon Sinatra’s biggest holiday hits;
  • UD jazz faculty Tom Palmer will direct UD’s Jazz Ensemble I and join in to play with UD’s Faculty Jazz Ensemble;
  • Award-winning student a cappella ensembles Vocal Point and the Deltones will bring the holidays alive with harmony; and
  • the acclaimed Omni Brass Quintet from Houston and the Master Players Ensemble-In-Residence 6-wire will play favorite holiday tunes.

Single tickets are available now in person or by phone at the REP box office (302-831-2204, open noon-5 p.m., Monday through Friday) or online through the Master Players website.  

Tickets are $25 for adults; $20 for seniors, alumni, faculty and staff; and $10 for students with ID. Special $5 tickets for children ages 5-14 are made possible by a private gift and are available by phone or in person only. Master Players Concert Series (MPCS) serves as the cultural ambassador for the University. Producing Artistic Director Xiang Gao, international artist and University of Delaware Trustees Distinguished Professor of Music, brings a rich and wide array of world-class musicians to the UD campus and to underserved local communities. The series’ hallmarks are its high artistic standards, the Delaware debuts of remarkable artists, and its diverse and distinctive programming. Master Players, with the UD Resident Ensemble Players (a professional theatre company), is proud to offer a large variety of public performances in numerous University venues and throughout the region. Master Players is cosponsored by long-term collaborating unit, the UD Department of Music.
