The University of Delaware’s newest convenience store opened South Campus on Monday, May 22, with the arrival of The Coop, a Provisions on Demand (P.O.D.) Express.

Located in the lobby of the Bob Carpenter Center, across from the Wall of Fame, The Coop offers a variety of grab-and-go food and beverage options for breakfast and lunch. Products being offered in the location are similar to items that can be found at P.O.D. locations throughout campus.

“Our research told us student-athletes were looking for dining options to accommodate their busy schedules while training,” said Stefanie Gilreath, marketing manager for UD Dining.

“Based on their input, we were able to customize The Coop with items athletes want. The new dining location also makes eating healthy easier for the growing number of students, faculty and staff on South Campus.”

Through collaboration, UD Dining and Athletics worked together to choose product offerings that are geared toward overall health and athletic performance, ensuring a good variety of healthy and satisfying options.

"The Coop was an innovative vision and concept that was the true definition of a team effort,” said Eric Laudano, senior associate director of athletics.

“Collective forward-thinking and input from student-athletes, staff and campus partners allowed this vision to become a reality. We are proud to provide convenient and healthy food options within UD Athletics’ footprint,” he said.

For the remainder of the spring semester, The Coop will be open from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will operate on a limited schedule during the summer sessions. Acceptable payment methods include points, Flex, credit and cash.
