Summer faculty opportunities

Faculty development workshop, writing retreats offered

The University of Delaware is offering a pair of summer faculty development opportunities, a workshop for mid-career faculty to be held on campus and three weekend write-ins to be held at Easton’s Nook in northern New Jersey.

The UD Faculty Achievement Program is partnering with UD ADVANCE, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity to bring a nationally-celebrated faculty development workshop aimed at mid-career faculty to campus in June.

Mindi Thompson, one of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity’s certified workshop leaders and the head coach for the center’s coaching team, will deliver “Writing Your Next Chapter” from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, June 2.

This workshop is specifically aimed at mid-career faculty, but registration is open to all interested UD faculty members.

Faculty members also wil have the opportunity to participate in a one and one-half hour summer planning workshop.

Space is limited, and a continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Register here.

Write-ins at Easton’s Nook

To support faculty members in finding productive space and time to intensively focus on writing and forwarding projects, the Faculty Achievement Program is launching a new initiative in partnership with Easton’s Nook, an academic writing retreat space in northern New Jersey that is about two hours from the UD campus in Newark.

Three UD-focused faculty write-ins will be offered this summer, from June 2-4, June 16-18, and June 30-July 2.

Easton’s Nook was selected as the site for its all-inclusive services – all meals and lodging details are taken care of so participants need only to bring their writing materials – and beautiful location, as well as their knowledge and expertise around the needs for academic writing.

Pre-register here by April 1.
