April 5-May 2: Earth Month

UD celebrates Earth Month with special events

Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, but the University of Delaware will be highlighting environmental sustainability and justice issues with a variety of events throughout the month of April, or Earth Month.

The University’s Earth Month celebration is the culmination of work by a diverse group of students, faculty and staff designed to help draw attention to environmental issues, and it is sponsored by the University of Delaware Sustainability Task Force.

Highlights include a kick-off viewing of Disney Earth, the 2009 hit from Disneynature that highlights various animal families across the globe. The screening will be held at 7 p.m.,Wednesday, April 5, in 205 Kirkbride Hall.

At 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, students can attend a terrarium- making event in the Christiana Engagement Center and learn why it is important to maintain indoor plants.

The month will wrap up with a Jobs in Sustainability panel organized by Michelle Bennett. sustainability manager at UD. Students can attend the event, scheduled from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, in the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center, to learn about trends and types of work across multiple fields.
