April 20: Lecture on common moral law

Mark Murphy to discuss "God Incarnate Under the Moral Law"

Mark C. Murphy, McDevitt Professor of Religious Philosophy at Georgetown University, will present a free public lecture on "God Incarnate Under the Moral Law" at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20, in 115 Purnell Hall on the University of Delaware’s Newark campus.

The presentation, with a focus on conceptions of common moral law, will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

A popular lecturer on topics of religion and moral law, Murphy works in ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of law and philosophy of religion at Georgetown University. He is the author of Natural Law and Practical Rationality, An Essay on Divine Authority, Natural Law in Jurisprudence and Politics, Philosophy of Law: The Fundamentals, God and Moral Law: On the Theistic Explanation of Morality, and God's Own Ethics: Norms of Divine Agency and the Argument from Evil. He serves as the editor of the journal Faith and Philosophy.

The lecture is sponsored by the Society of Catholic Scholars of Delaware and the University’s Department of Philosophy.
