UD's Patten named Colonial Athletic Association baseball player of week

University of Delaware sophomore Nick Patten has been named the Colonial Athletic Association baseball player of the week.

Patten posted a .500 average with three home runs, 18 runs scored and 13 RBIs during UD's six-game winning streak last week.

“Nick had about as good a week as I have seen here at Delaware,” UD head coach Jim Sherman said. “What’s ironic about Patten winning the award is that Jeremy Ake had probably just as good a week. Obviously those two were great candidates to win this week. Nick winning this award is great for our program and well deserved because he works very hard.”

The first baseman raised his average to .333 for the season due to his performance. Patten helped the Blue Hens defeat Delaware State and Rider and sweep Wagner this past weekend.

Patten is the first Blue Hen to win CAA baseball player of the week since Kevin Milley, who won the award last May.

Other CAA honorees included Colten Harlow of James Madison (co-pitcher of the week), Michael Adams of Towson (co-pitcher of the week) and Sean Mellen (freshman of the week) of Northeastern.
