March 22: Foltyn Seminar on nutrition

Sports nutrition expert Liz Applegate to give two presentations

The 2017 Foltyn Seminar at the University of Delaware will feature Liz Applegate, an nationally known expert on nutrition and fitness and the director of sports nutrition at the University of California, Davis.

Applegate will give two separate presentations on Wednesday, March 22, on the Newark campus, and both are open to the UD community and general public.

The first — “Lessons Learned from the Garden” — is slated at noon in the atrium of the STAR Health Sciences Complex. This presentation will center on a nutrition education program designed for developmentally disabled adults involving campus and community. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP online.

The second presentation — “Six Must-Do Eating and Fueling Rules for Every Athlete” — is scheduled at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall. During this lecture, Applegate will offer practical sports nutrition advice for athletes of all ages and levels. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP here.

This annual seminar is made possible by the generosity of Theodore J. Foltyn and Kathi Hetrick Foltyn, University of Delaware alumni. The couple established this endowed fund for the purpose of recruiting outstanding speakers in areas including behavioral health, nutrition, wellness and disease prevention.
