Winter Session proposals

UD accepting proposals for innovative projects to enhance Winter Session experience

The University of Delaware Office of the Provost and the Division of Student Life invite proposals from academic units, administrative and Student Life departments, and registered student organizations for innovative projects that enhance the Winter Session experience.

The proposals should accomplish experience enhancements by furthering learning and fostering a more diverse and stimulating educational and social environment for undergraduate students who enroll in Winter Session.

Priority will be given to creative, high-impact undergraduate programs. Examples include arts festivals, compelling public speakers, conferences, workshops and community engagement activities.

Proposals will be reviewed by a committee comprised of faculty, administrators and students.

In this final year of funding through a grant, a second application period will be open from July 1 to Sept. 30, with award notifications being sent by Oct 20.

Proposals must be for Winter Session 2018 and should be submitted as a single PDF to Laura Gleason, senior business administrator, Office of the Vice President for Student Life, at lgleason@udel.edu. Proposals must not exceed three typed pages and must include the following:

• Description of the program including intended audience, size and location.

• How the project will further student learning and foster a more diverse and stimulating educational and/or social environment during Winter Session.

• Estimated budget identifying fees and production costs, including identification of funds and in-kind subsidy from any departments, colleges or student organizations.

• Plans for assessment and evaluation.

Award recipients will be required to submit a one-page summary of the results of the project, including the number of students who participated and a summary of their feedback, as well as a financial report documenting expenses. Templates will be provided.

Funding through this Unidel grant was available for Winter Sessions 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Proposals and awards for 2018 may be for new undergraduate programming or for the continuation of undergraduate programming for which funds were received for Winter Session 2015, 2016 and/or 2017 programming.
