In support of academic procedures

Registrar’s office implements new software packages for catalog, curriculum management

The Office of the University Registrar at the University of Delaware has successfully implemented two software packages -- Acalog for catalog management and Curriculog for curriculum management — to support the Faculty Senate curriculum management process.

Beginning the first week of July, faculty and staff will use Curriculog for all curricular (course and program) revisions, deactivations and new proposals in the upcoming cycle by incorporating Course Inventory and the Faculty Senate APA paper-form into one easily accessible online platform. The proposal and approval process will not change but, rather, will become more streamlined and user-friendly. Departments, colleges and Faculty Senate committees will now be able to see where their proposals are at any time in the approval process.

The Office of the University Registrar will be the primary unit for support and training, along with the materials and tutorials provided by the vendorDigital Architecture. The office has developed training documentation that will be available on the Registrar’s website; users will have access to the vendor’s materials; and the office will schedule individualized training sessions with any user, unit, committee or group, as desired or needed.

Curriculog has many exciting features that will ease the stress of curriculum management. The application will improve the efficiency and accuracy of the curriculum management process by creating greater transparency, tracking and automated workflows.

Acalog enables the University to create vibrant, intuitive and multifaceted academic catalogs. The two applications are compatible and completed proposals made in Curriculog will update automatically in Acalog.

The 2017-18 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs will be posted online just before New Student Orientation begins later this month.

University Registrar Jeff Palmer said, “The Office of the University Registrar is excited to help support a new chapter in the University of Delaware’s academic processes and procedures.”
