For the second straight year, University of Delaware women’s rowing standout Claire Brown has earned a spot on the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-Region Team. 

Brown, a senior co-captain, was one of 13 student-athletes honored on the Region 1 first team and was among six Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) standouts recognized. 

A double major in economics and finance, Brown becomes just the second rower in UD history to earn all-region honors twice in a career and the first since Regine Adrien was a three-time selection in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She also joins Adrien as the only UD rowers to be honored on the all-region first team. 

Also a two-time first team All-CAA selection and this year’s UD Alumni Association team most valuable player, Brown earned her fourth career letter this spring after once again anchoring the team’s varsity eight crew. She helped that crew earn a berth in the finals at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on May 13 and a fourth place finish at the CAA championships on May 15. 

A dean’s list student and a four-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll, Brown was honored last week with a spot on the CRCA National Scholar-Athletes team for the second straight year. 

Joining Brown on the CRCA All-Region team were Julia Arthur and Ashley Dawson of Navy; Haley Doucette, Heather Foti, Madison Mailey, and Margaret Walsh of Northeastern University; Christina Johnson of Georgetown University; Julianna Malachin of Lehigh University; Annalise Routenberg and Kitty Tolman of Boston University; Larkin Sayre of MIT; and Kendall Wenzke of Drexel University. 

The second team consisted of Laura Anhalt and Emily Huber of Boston University; Megan Hanson of Navy; Stacey Price of Jacksonville University; and Sarah Tokos of Northeastern University.
