Announcements

David C. Munson Jr., a University of Delaware electrical engineering alumnus, is the new president of the Rochester (New York) Institute of Technology, a position he assumed effective July 1. Munson received a bachelor of science degree with distinction from UD in 1975 and went on to earn master’s degrees and his doctorate from Princeton University.

Presentations

Sheng Lu, assistant professor of fashion and apparel studies, was invited to present his research at the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) Trade Symposium on July 12 and USFIA’s board of directors meeting on July 13 in Washington, D.C. During the presentation, Lu shared findings from the latest study he conducted in collaboration with USFIA regarding the business outlook in the U.S. fashion industry, companies’ global sourcing trends and related trade policy issues. Over 100 executives from leading U.S. fashion brands, apparel retailers, senior U.S. trade officials and congressional staff attended the events.

Publications

Timothy Murray, head of Special Collections, University of Delaware Library, is the author of "Maverick Poets and Cowboy Surrealists: the Life and Times of the Black Stone Press,” an essay which appears in Peter Koch Printer: Embodied Language and the Form of the Book. [Berkeley and Palo Alto, California]: Editions Koch|Stanford University Libraries, 2017.

Recognition

Eddie Michelson, of Marriott’s Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware, was featured in the Shaner Associate Spotlight section of the Shaner corporate blog on June 30. Michelson, who started tending bar at the campus hotel when it opened in 2004, said he enjoys the challenge of high standards of service.
