Winter Session fun begins

Winter Session events start Jan. 5 for all students near Newark campus

Winter Session has officially begun, and with it comes several programs designed for all students near the University of Delaware’s main campus to participate in new activities, meet people and have fun.

Though students do not need to be enrolled in winter classes to attend events, registration remains open through Jan. 6 for five-week classes and through Jan. 12 for four-week classes.

Many of the events below have been planned within the Division of Student Life in collaboration with campus partners, and have been made annual tradition by popular demand.

Activities are free and open to all UD students unless otherwise mentioned:

Jan. 5: Dive Into Art student art showcase exploring social identity and diversity, beginning the month-long collaborative Dive In + Diversity Institute for which participants can sign up online.

Jan. 6: Henna, painting, botanical, cooking and book-binding workshops, as part of Residence Life and Housing’s Study At Home series that also includes a trip to Washington, D.C.

Jan. 7: Interactive workshop with Interfaith Youth Core, kicking off a month of collaborative Serving Better Together activities. Interested students can sign up online.

Every Tuesday starting Jan. 10: Quizzo with the University Student Centers at 7 p.m. in West Lounge at Perkins Student Center. Themes include current events as well as pop culture topics, such as Game of Thrones and Dr. Seuss.

Jan. 13: Winterfaith Shabbat with Hillel at UD at the Hillel Student Center, 47 W. Delaware Ave.

Jan. 13: UD women's basketball vs. James Madison, 7 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

• Jan. 14: Ice Skating with Healthy HENS from 8-10 p.m. at Fred Rust Ice Arena on South Campus.

Jan. 19: Healthy HENS Winter Fest, 2-5 p.m., Christiana Towers Commons.

Jan. 19: UD men's basketball vs. Northeastern, 7 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

Jan. 20: UD women's basketball vs. Northeastern, 7 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

Jan. 21: UD men's basketball vs. Towson, 2 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

Jan. 21: Ice skating Karaoke Night, sponsored by Graduate Student Government, Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Jan. 22: UD women's basketball vs. Charleston, 2 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

Jan. 28: UD men's basketball vs. James Madison, 7 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.

Jan. 28: Ice skating, live DJ and Hockey Night, 8-10 p.m., Fred Rust Ice Arena, sponsored by Resident Student Government.

Jan. 31: Hot Chocolate Festival with University Student Centers from 1-4 p.m. at Perkins Student Center

The Division of Student Life includes the Career Services Center, Center for Black Culture, Center for Counseling and Student Development, New Student Orientation, Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Student Conduct, Residence Life and Housing, Student Health Services, Student Services for Athletes, Student Wellness and Health Promotion, and the University Student Centers.
