Spring into Success

Students learn how to succeed in college and beyond

As students return to campus for spring semester, the University of Delaware will also welcome about 300 new students.

Residence Life and Housing, New Student Orientation and University Student Centers have teamed to offer the Spring into Success conference on February 3 -4, 2017 to provide all students in their first year at UD a chance to arrive early for skill building, motivation and resources that can aid in their success as students.

“Students in their first year at UD can make good use of the days before Spring semester to explore their potential for personal development, engagement and academic and career success,” said Tierra Fields, complex coordinator, Residence Life and Housing.

The three main tracks of the conference are:

• Academic and Career Success focuses on development of skills for studying and career planning. Featuring: Office of Academic Enrichment, Morris Library, University Studies and Career Services Center.

• Student Involvement and Engagement focuses on enriching educational experience through out-of-school activities. Featuring: Institute for Global Studies, including Study Abroad, Campus Sustainability and University Student Centers.

• Personal Development focuses on individual skill building and development, with highlights on personal wellness, leadership development and mindfulness. Featuring: Student Wellness and Health Promotion and Blue Hen Leadership Program.

Spring into Success attendees and any students on campus for Winter Session are invited to hear the keynote speaker, Arel Moodie on Friday, Feb. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

Moodie, who has spoken to over half a million students at colleges, high schools and the White House, will speak about how students can become work ready, succeed in school and in life.

The event is free to registered attendees and early residence hall check-in fees are waived for students who participate in Spring into Success. Students must attend all mandatory workshops and sessions in the program to have their residence hall fees waived.
