Hen Hatch deadline extended

Submissions for Hen Hatch will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Jan. 23

The University of Delaware Horn Program in Entrepreneurship has extended the deadline of its premier startup funding competition, Hen Hatch, until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23.

All UD students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to submit business concepts.

Preliminary submissions will be between three to five pages and include information such as customer profile, problem identified and proposed solution, unique value proposition, team profile and revenue model. An outline and suggestions on what to include are available at the Hen Hatch website.

Participants in Hen Hatch receive guidance, visibility, startup funding and in-kind services to help develop and improve their business concepts. The finalists compete for a share of a $100,000 prize pool.

Timeline

• Nov. 28, Hen Hatch registration opens.

• Jan. 23, registration/submission deadline.

• Feb. 13, notification of semifinalists.

• March 10, semifinal round, students, 10 most promising student teams pitch to a panel of entrepreneurs and investors at the Venture Development Center.

• March 17, semifinal round, faculty and staff, 10 most promising alumni, faculty and staff teams pitch to a panel of entrepreneurs and investors at the Venture Development Center.

• April 25, final round, top three teams from each track pitch in front of a panel of judges and audience at World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington, Delaware.
