Employee Health and Wellbeing holds Wellbeing Ambassador meeting

University of Delaware Employee Health and Wellbeing held its spring Wellbeing Ambassador meeting on Valentine’s Day to discuss upcoming programming and present a new vision for the department.

“The Wellbeing Ambassadors play a crucial role here at UD. They walk the walk when it comes to wellbeing and be positive role models in their teams,” said Beth Finkle, director of Employee Health and Wellbeing. “These employees promote health and wellbeing programs and encourage co-workers to participate.”

Chrissi Rawak, director of athletics and recreation services, opened the meeting, showing her full support to Employee Health and Wellbeing and explaining partnerships and programs. She conveyed a message of community engagement and partnership across the institution, and discussed how athletics is a fluid part of the University’s DNA.

With a University commitment to improve the quality of life for students and the world, Employee Health and Wellbeing seeks to cultivate the employee experience.

“We will focus our efforts in working across the entire UD community,” said Finkle. “Our philosophy takes a pioneering view on worksite wellbeing that integrates well-being, work life, organizational effectiveness and leadership at the individual and institutional level.”

Finkle outlined the following priorities to create the foundation for a sustainable and impactful culture of wellbeing at UD.

• Improve the health status of employees.

• Enable employees to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyle choices.

• Create a safe and supportive environment that makes healthy choices easy.

• Educate and empower UD employees to effectively manage and utilize the health care system.

• Foster an inclusive and engaging culture of health and well-being that enables employees to bring their best self to work and life every day.

The Employee Health and Wellbeing website highlights new spring programming. An eight-week campaign has a family focus and a “Couch to 5K” running group for beginner runners starts soon. New fitness classes were also added to the schedule.
