Students grow ideas, startups

Students invited to apply for VentureOn, which provides startup resources

VentureOn provides resources and support to help University of Delaware students hatch and grow businesses.

Applications are being accepted from Feb. 6 to Feb. 17 for the spring semester. Interested undergraduate and graduate students can apply online.

The program provides thought leadership on topics like innovation, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education as well as hosting programs, activities and events to forge connections between UD students, faculty, staff, alumni and the entrepreneurial community.

Participant Amira Idris, who launched her own startup Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel, said that VentureOn strongly influenced the trajectory of her business. "The VentureOn program’s guidance and opportunities are irreplaceable,” said Idris.

Vincent DiFelice, faculty member and venture support lead with the Horn Program, said that VentureOn “is an opportunity for anyone to start a new adventure. If you work hard at it, you’ll get where you want to go.”

VentureOn participants also receive 24/7 access to the program’s home in the Venture Development Center (VDC) and resources including:

• Collaborative work spaces and conference rooms;

• Private mentoring;

• A17-foot glass Inspiration Wall for brainstorming, idea conception and idea development;

• A technology resource center with Mac and PC workstations offering the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro X;

• 3-D printing;

• Nine LED TVs equipped with web browsers, webcams and more;

• Media production resources including video, printing and copying;

• High-speed internet access (wired and wireless); and

• Storage lockers.

Participants receive scheduling priority for mentoring sessions, access to VDC spaces, discounted business services and presale ticket purchases.

All UD graduate and undergraduate students who are in good academic standing are eligible to apply to become participants in the VentureOn program.

About the Horn Program in Entrepreneurship

The University of Delaware Horn Program in Entrepreneurship ignites imaginations and empowers world changers through entrepreneurial education.
