Two workshops offered

Library offers New RefWorks, citation management workshops

The University of Delaware Library will present two workshops on RefWorks in February and March.

RefWorks is an online citation management tool used to import and organize citations and generate bibliographies or reference lists, and is available from the library databases page. These workshops are being co-sponsored by the Graduate Student Senate.

Two workshops are offered: “Introduction to the New RefWorks” and “Citation Management with RefWorks.”

The “Introduction to the New RefWorks” workshop provides 90 minutes of hands-on practice covering the basics of using the new version of Works followed by an optional 30 minutes covering the more advanced features such as using RefWorks to create footnotes or in-text citations. Topics covered include importing references, storing full-text articles as attachments, creating folders to organize references, using RefWorks for collaborative research, and generating a bibliography or reference list.

The workshop “Citation Management with RefWorks” introduces the 2016 release of RefWorks, a tool that organizes and stores data about sources, and then creates properly formatted notes and bibliographies in a wide variety of citation standards, saving considerable time and frustration.

“Introduction to the New RefWorks” will be offered from 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Library Instruction Room 114 on the first floor of the Morris Library. Presenter will be Dianna McKellar, librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

“Citation Management with RefWorks” will be offered from 2-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, also in Library Instruction Room 114. Presenter will be William Simpson, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. For a complete listing of workshops and to register online, go to this website.

Those who attend are welcome to use the resources of the University of Delaware Library on-site. All visitors to the Morris Library need to have photo identification to enter the building, e.g., a UD ONEcard, a U.S. driver’s license or a government-issued or school-issued photo ID.
